Hyperlinks and Image Maps
As in version 7, Draw 8 has an Internet Objects toolbar, that can be used to assign URL’s (Internet addresses) to any selected object. These addresses can point to another page at the same site, or to a completely different website. If it is a page at the same site, you can use a relative reference like conferences/upcoming.htm as the address.
If the objects overlap or are grouped, the result is an Image Map—a single image that has various zones representing links to different web pages.
The graphic at the left is an Image Map. It has three different links embedded in it. Click on the rectangle, and you will be taken to a series of pages discussing the creation and use of webpage backgrounds. Click on Will Shakespeare, and you will be able to compare different versions of the same image in GIF and JPG format, with different color depths and compression levels. Click on the movie projector, and we’ll show you how to create an animation in Photo-Paint.
