The basic un-rotated image for this spinning logo started life in Draw. It's not an extrusion, so there really isnt a tool specifically designed to rotate it. I brought the 2D frontal image into Photo-Paint, where I could use the 3D rotate effect on a series of duplicates of the image. The trick with this tool, is to start with an image rotated 0 degrees. (For some reason this effect shrinks the original, and also doesn't rotate from the center.) I had to rotate each object, eliminate the white background created due to the shrinkage, center the object in the animation frame, then merge itanother opportunity to use the script recorder to simplify the process. Starting with one rotated 0 degrees, gave me the properly sized image for use in the first frame.
I did a bit of drawing, er-r painting, to create the appearance of thickness to my rotated sign. But this was really quite easy. I just drew rectangles of what appeared to be the correct size in each successive frame, where the ends would be very visible.
On the next page, I did a little enhancing of this animation
